MGRC: XLR is an intensive 3-day-weekend version of Miami Girls Rock Camp – for adults!
We’ve adapted and concentrated our youth summer programming for grownups who will receive instrument instruction, form a band, and work together to write an original song in just three days, regardless of skill level. There is absolutely no musical experience necessary and we will provide all instruments for those who attend!
XLR stands for non-binary (X) and “ladies” rock (LR). We follow LRC Boston’s lead in redefining the term “lady” by creating an environment that is the antithesis of what we have been told it means to be behave as one: Loud, possibly ignoble, and definitely less than demure. XLR is for all women – trans & cis – and non-binary adults, age 18 and over, who want to rock out while supporting Miami Girls Rock Camp!
All proceeds from XLR go directly to helping Miami Girls Rock Camp (MGRC) continue to provide programming for Miami’s girls and non-binary youth, using music as a tool to promote self-expression and empowerment.
Our inaugural session of MGRC: XLR will take place October 11-13, 2019 and the Finale Concert will take place the evening of October 13th at the historical Churchill’s Pub!
Applications for the 2019 session are now open and can be filled out here!
